"Developing future STEM leaders by making problem solving a fun activity"

Our methodology

The primary objective of the classes at Random Math is to provide students with an unlimited opportunity to explore mathematics beyond their grade level. Random Math classes are characterized by:
  • Emphasis on problem solving
  • Culture of Co-opetition
  • An integrated approach to the curriculum
 Emphasis on problem solving
The name "Random Math" signifies the importance we put on problem solving skills. Our students use mathematics, as a tool, and internalize the skills to:
  • Reason
  • Analyze
  • Navigate
  • Deduce
  • Organize, and
  • Manage

Culture of "co-opetition"
At Random Math, both students and parents (including us) insist on preserving the culture of Co-opetition. Students compete in designing the problems, writing the best solution to a given problem, and for demonstrating their mastery on board games and arcade basketball.

While our students are competitive, they are a great team player as well. To win as a team, they are often seen helping others to bring out their best.

Last but not the least, students at Random Math are great gurus for the next generation - their passion to teach a concept to others is visible during and after the classes.

Our curriculum - an integrated approach
We treat, teach and learn mathematics as an integrated topic. This means that the students gets to advance in all fields of mathematics viz. Number Theory, Algebra, Geometry and Counting starting from elementary grade and all the way to high school. We encourage the students at Random Math to explore mathematics enthusiastically and provide flexibility in our program to support it. This means:
  • Our students can decide the speed and intensity with which they want to progress at any given time. Every child is unique and so are their goals and expectations from the program. For this reason, we place them in classes based on their learning goals, and current knowledge rather than their grade level.
  • We conduct qualitative and quantitative assessment of students on a continuous basis and pivot based on their competencies and interest. For example, if a group wants to take a break from algebra, we take up topics from number theory, or geometry for few weeks.
  • Some of the students are motivated to learn beyond the classroom and we provide them guidance based on their interest level: books, problems, practice papers etc. (we strongly recommend minimal screen time for the children and so we only recommend selective use of online resources). This allows the students the flexibility to progress at a faster pace. We ensure that the students are challenged at all times and recommend change in their classes as and when required.
